Job Description: VP Materials and Logistics / Global Airline Company

Location: On-site in Malta (Relocation)

The company:

Our client is a well-established global airline company, one of the leading companies offering high quality end-to-end services for transportation of cargo. They have a truly global reach with an extensive network, their own fleet of aircrafts and offices in Europe, USA and APAC.

The position:

As a core part of the global management team, you will drive the strategy for spare parts provisioning, procurement, inventory management, and distribution. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of a well-established and fast-growing company, playing a pivotal role in upholding the highest standards of safety, regulations, and cost-efficiency for the company’s expanding fleet.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and execute a spare parts strategy aligned with growth goals.
  2. Identify cost-saving opportunities and enhance supply chain reliability.
  3. Procurement:
    • Collaborate with suppliers for cost-effective and reliable spare parts.
    • Manage contract negotiations and tenders with third-party organizations.
  4. Inventory Management:
    • Use advanced forecasting for optimal stock levels.
    • Ensure strict compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee efficient spare parts distribution.
  5. Optimize logistics and transportation strategies.
  6. QA and Compliance:
    • Enforce rigorous quality control standards and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
    • Identify risks to spare parts availability and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Develop a Group service level agreement, managing material operations accordingly.
  7. Manage the departmental budget, monitor financial performance, and implement cost-controlling approaches.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in spare parts management, with a leadership role within the aviation industry.
  • Strong understanding of aviation regulations and safety standards with relevant EASA and/or FAA training.
  • Proven track record of optimizing supply chain operations and achieving cost savings.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software and data analytics tools.
  • Willingness and ability to engage in extensive travel.
